
Kathleen Martin, CNM, J.D.
Ms. Martin graduated from the University of Bridgeport, College of Nursing with her R.N., and attended the New York Medical College where she received a Master of Science in Nursing and Nurse-Midwifery and certification as a Nurse-Midwife. She served as an instructor and lecturer for Schools of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Yale University, and Louisiana State University. Her practice as a nurse-midwife and nurse practitioner spanned more than thirty years for facilities such as Hampton County OB/GYN in Massachusetts, Planned Parenthood of Louisiana, The Midwife Center at Lakeland Hospital, and Saint Thomas Health Services. Although she does not currently do home births, Ms. Martin has extension experience in the home birth practice. In 1996, Ms. Martin joined the WomenCare Midwife Center. She has privileges at Lakeland Medical Center, Tulane University Hospital & Clinic, and Pendleton Methodist Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Martin also obtained a Juris Doctor from Tulane Law School and a member of the Louisiana State Bar since 1991. She is currently Treasurer of the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Nurse-Midwives, and an active member of the Louisiana Nurse Practitioners Association, Nurse-Midwives' Service Director's Network, American College of Nurse-Midwives, and Louisiana Hospital Association.
