
Karen Sadar Watt, MSN, CNM
Ms. Watt was teaching high school English when her son was born with the help of a nurse-midwife. She returned to school, graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Pennsylvania, and attended East Carolina University in North Carolina, where she received a Master of Science in Nursing. She did women's health nursing for seventeen years, including managing several in-hospital birth centers. Among other places, she has worked at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in North Carolina, St. Anthony Hospital in Oregan, and Wahiawa General Hospital in Hawaii. In 1995, Ms. Watt received her certification as a Nurse-Midwife from the Frontier School of Family Nursing and Nurse-Midwifery in Kentucky. She joined the WomanCare Midwife Center in 1996. She has privileges at Lakeland Medical Center and Pendleton Methodist Memorial Hospital. Ms. Watt is currently President of the Louisiana Chapter of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and an active member of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners.
